Intaglio is one of the earliest forms of printmaking. Meaning ‘incised’, the image is etched under the surface of the plate, holding the ink.
Thanks to mechanical pressure, the ink is transferred from the engraved lines to the wet paper, creating the work of art.

Andrea Chiampo’s FUTURED PAST imagery is originally created as the result of digital sculpting and 3D rendering.
In this case, subsequently transferred and engraved on the metal plate through a mix of old techniques and high-end new technologies. -
Intaglio is one of the earliest forms of printmaking.

The plate is then placed on the paper and passed through a press, where, thanks to mechanical pressure, the ink is transferred from the engraved lines, creating the work of art.
*** The original manual process was heavily used by Rembrandt, Goya, and Picasso. -
